Earlier this month, over $20 million was raised in an outpouring of support for 2,500 nonprofits through North Texas Giving Tuesday Now, proving that community generosity, and kindness cannot be cancelled.
Still, during these perilous times, our nonprofit partners are experiencing unprecedented levels of need and don’t have the flexible resources they need to fulfill their missions or to respond to the pandemic. Our nonprofits are seeing much-needed operating dollars disappear alongside cancelled fundraising events, coupled with colunteer shortages. Nonetheless, nonprofits continue to step up and serve our most vulnerable populations.
To help streamline the process for nonprofits applying for emergency funding, more than 30 funders have come together to create and share a common online grant application called North Texas Cares. To date, close to $30 million in grants have been awarded by the participating funders. However, there’s still an additional $42 million in unmet urgent needs that have been identified by our local nonprofits through North Texas Cares, with that number growing by the week. It will take each of us working together to build the thriving community we hope for.
We have seen time and again the strength and resilience of our North Texas community. Thank you for supporting the needs of our neighbors, and those working to help them. Have hope for our community, and do what you can, with what you have, from where you are, to help.
With Gratitude,
