The state of Texas has declared 16 counties as disasters, including Bastrop, Cass, Cooke, Grayson, Guadalupe, Houston, Jack, Madison, Marion, Montague, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Upshur, Williamson, and Wise counties. In addition to property damage to homes and schools in multiple communities, the storm has also caused multiple injuries and to date, at least one death that can be attributed to the storm.
Ways to Support
This continues to be an evolving situation, but to date, the following are funds that have been established to support the efforts of first responders, as well as support for impacted communities with response and recovery:
Grayson County – The United Way of Grayson County has officially been activated by Grayson County Office of Emergency Management to manage donations and create support and recovery for First Responders and victims. The damage to homes is extensive and search and rescue is still leading a large search of the area looking for people. Victims who have lost their homes are being placed in local motels. In addition to funds to support victims, the United Way is also collecting donations of basic sanitary goods, food, water and household supplies.
Jack County – Jacksboro, located in Jack County, experienced damage to several buildings, including Jacksboro High School, which received significant damage. At this time, there is a Jack County Relief Fund that is being collected through the Jacksboro National Bank.

Central Texas – The Austin Disaster Relief Network has opened the Central Texas Tornadoes Relief Fund to help residents impacted by the outbreak of the tornadoes that touched down around the Greater Austin area destroying homes and other structures across Williamson County, Bastrop County, and other communities. Funds will support emergency needs for disaster survivors, including temporary housing, emergency supplies, food, and other essentials. The relief fund will also go towards rebuilding and restoring safe and clean homes for those impacted by the storms.
