What We're Learning in CFT for Business: June 2024

Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing some of the best resources that our CFT for Business team has been soaking up, along with recaps of various conferences and events.

We hope these will spark inspiration and help inform your continued work across corporate social responsibility (CSR), environmental, social, & governance (ESG), and diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging (DEIB).

Learning Events

  • Conscious Capitalism – Kymberlaine Banks, CFT’s Senior Business Engagement Officer, attended the national Conscious Capitalism Conference and loved seeing several CFT for Business members there, including Gillea Allison and Christine Perez from D Magazine, Matt McElyea from HumCap and Tina Young from Marketwave. The Conscious Capitalism Dallas Chapter serves as a resource and community of practice for leaders on their purpose-driven journeys to elevate business and hosts great events year-round.

 

  • Dallas Regional Chamber Lead YP – Elizabeth Corley, CFT’s Business Engagement Officer, is a member of the 2024 LEAD YP cohort. The program offers an opportunity for young leaders to discover their leadership styles and dive deep into the Dallas Regional Chamber’s strategic priorities: 1) prosperity & economic development, 2) education, talent, & workforce, 3) public policy, and 4) diversity, inclusion, & community engagement.

 

 

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging

  • White Paper: The Inclusion Solution – Dr. Janet Ahn, President Americas & Chief Behavioral Science Officer at MindGym, shared data from this white paper at D CEO’s recent Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Leadership Series event. Read more to learn why many widely-adopted practices to promote diversity, equity, & inclusion are failing and often driving people further apart.

 

  • North Texas Disability Chamber’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Accessibility Summit –Kymberlaine attended the North Texas Disability Chamber’s inaugural Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Accessibility Summit at My Possibilities. Individuals – whose lives have been impacted by visible and invisible disabilities – spoke about the importance of inclusion in an environment where careful attention was paid to demonstrating this. The event stage had a ramp, and there were two large, closed-caption screens and an app that enabled participants to see the closed captioning on their phones. Food was provided by Hugs Café, and businesses and the Dallas Regional Chamber spoke about the importance of inclusive hiring and employee resource groups elevating the concerns and needs of people with disabilities.

The report also analyzes the latest trends in ESG metrics for companies in the Fortune 500® and S&P Global 1200.

 

  • Podcast: Scaling through PartnershipAli Mize, Senior Director of ESG, Belonging & Corporate Philanthropy at Neiman Marcus Group and CFT for Business Fund Holder, discusses the company’s incredible sustainability advancements and how its unique partnership model makes it possible.

 

Volunteerism
