Dallas Black Dance Theatre, the premier professional dance company in Dallas, has taken steps to secure its financial future. In 2008, Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) successfully completed a $10.8 million capital campaign to secure a permanent home and established a fund with Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) to make continued giving easy for donors.
“We established a fund so DBDT could begin to accept online donations,” said Laura J. Brown, senior development director. “CFT created an online giving page for DBDT so we could include a donation link on our website and fundraising materials. It saved DBDT up front expenses allowing us to work on increasing the number of individual gifts to the organization.”
Today, DBDT has endowment and designated funds at CFT. Annual campaign proceeds are directed to a designated fund to cover educational and outreach programs impacting more than 20,000 Dallas-area students each year.
As a testament to the great experience DBDT has working with CFT, their executive director, Zenetta S. Drew, even helped establish her high school’s scholarship fund at CFT.
