As the deputy director of strategy and higher education, Erica leads WE CAN TX. The Workforce Education Community College Apprenticeship Network develops and scales work-based learning experiences and credential attainment for youth ages 16-24 across Texas. WE CAN TX engages workforce boards and community colleges to build pathways ensuring equitable outcomes for first-generation, low-income students of color in Texas to meet the labor demands of businesses.

Prior to joining CFT, Erica spent nearly a decade as assistant director of research in mathematics education in Southern Methodist University’s School of Education.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in art history and Spanish from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Texas, Arlington.
