Greg Oertel

As a senior community philanthropy officer, Greg is a key player in developing and building CFT’s philanthropy department to be the go-to place for excellence in impact-oriented and community-relevant grantmaking.

Greg leads philanthropic advising services to help fund holders hone their grantmaking strategy, identify high-impact funding opportunities across North Texas, and evaluate the effectiveness of grantmaking efforts.

He also supports local foundations engaged with CFT by managing their grantmaking processes. Through this work, Greg has developed deep knowledge of and built trusted relationships with local communities.

Prior to joining CFT, Greg was a senior programs manager for The Arts Community Alliance (TACA), a Dallas-based arts service organization. At TACA, he managed the organization’s $1.3 million-plus portfolio of six different grantmaking programs and developed capacity-building programs for the North Texas arts and cultural sector.

Greg holds a bachelor’s in music from the University of Southern California and an MBA and master’s in arts management from Southern Methodist University.

Greg is co-chair of the Dallas-based steering committee for Equality Texas, a statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy organization
