Destiny left us way too soon, before her 24th birthday. She left an indelible mark on those who knew her in her short life.
As a quiet and introverted child, Destiny found solace in nature, literature, and, most significantly, art. Destiny’s passion for art began at an early age. She was rarely without her colored pencils, markers, and sketch pad, which she used to create one-of-a-kind art from her vivid imagination. Her works earned her praise and recognition throughout her educational and work careers.
Destiny’s academic and professional journey was marked by numerous achievements. After moving to Dallas, TX, she excelled in the talented and gifted programs, earning her countless accolades as an artist and scholar. She continued her education at Sachse High School, graduating with honors in the Class of 2018 and becoming a Longhorn at The University of Texas in Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fine Arts, Class of 2022. Her dedication to her craft led her to become the Co-editor of Comics and Illustration of The Daily Texan Newspaper at UT. After graduation, she embarked on a successful career as a freelance artist and illustrator, working on various projects, including creating editorial illustrations for National Public Radio (NPR).
In honor of our beloved Destiny, our Family has established this Fund to help other talented artists by supporting students and programs by awarding grants to students and programs pursuing their artistic talents. Sharon and Rendell will select nominated students and programs each year to receive financial support to attend and facilitate programs that advance student studies in the arts. Although Destiny is no longer with us, we aim to provide a way for her spirit to live on by helping to provide others an opportunity to pursue their passion for the arts.
Your contribution to the Destiny Alexander Memorial Fund for the Arts is not just a donation but a testament to the value of art and the potential of young artists. Your support is integral to furthering Destiny’s memory and nurturing deserving young artists in our community. Please join us in this important endeavor.
Sincerely,
Rendell and Sharon Alexander
