Historic Mesquite, Inc. (HMI) exists for the charitable and educational purposes of identifying and preserving historic structures, identifying and securing historic designations for properties, and providing the public with the tools to navigate Mesquite history and culture.
Through a management agreement with the City of Mesquite, HMI manages the operations of two historic house museums- Florence Ranch Homestead and Opal Lawrence Historical Park. Their board of directors consists of 18 seats, nine are appointed by City of Mesquite and nine are elected by HMI’s board.

Historic Mesquite is looking for eight new board members to serve up to two consecutive terms (three years). They are looking to develop a diverse board with varying levels of experience with an interest in history and historic preservation. Board meetings occur on the fourth Tuesday of each month with no meeting in December. Requirements include: attending all regular meetings unless, working on at least one committee per year, working at a minimum of one fundraising event per year, joining one of the levels of HMI membership, and purchasing at least two tickets (2) to the HMI major fundraiser each year that they serve on the board.
