Troy Aikman’s Gridiron Greats DFW

  • Since 2004, Gridiron Greats has provided no-cost medical and psychological assistance to more than 2,500 dire need, retired NFL players from a bygone area. Their mission is to assist these retired NFL players who were pioneers of the game and who have greatly contributed to the NFL’s status as the most popular sport in America. In addition to helping former NFL players in-need in Texas, they will also provide protective sports equipment to financially at-risk youth sports team in the DFW metro area.

Gridiron Greats was founded in 2004 by NFL HOF’s Coach Mike Ditka. Ditka realized that life post-NFL wasn’t the same for all retired players. Some players were paid enough to make football their career, others held jobs in the offseason just to pay for living expenses. Before the era of protective gear and medical care, injuries on the field only exacerbated the financial burdens. Now, that need is only increasing. To serve more former players, HOF’ers from across the league are stepping up. Troy Aikman has committed to serving retired platers in his town while committing to help protect children for the future of football as well. Troy is bringing Gridiron Greats and its mission to Dallas.
