Vickery Trading Co.

  • Vickery Trading Company equips refugee women for long-term success through vocational training, personal development, and fair wages.

    Vickery Trading Co. trains refugee women to sew at a professional level while caring for their holistic needs through English classes, computer and financial classes, mental health services, case management, and job placement upon graduation. The nonprofit also operates a social enterprise for the clothes made by women in training.

  • Vickery Trading Co. is searching for new board members to begin terms in the summer or fall of 2024. Board member terms last three years:

    • It is preferred that volunteers have nonprofit board experience and/or experience in finance, retail, & fashion industries
    • The board would also benefit from an attorney
    • Ethnic diversity is encouraged
    • Board members are asked to “give or get” $15,000 per year
    • Attend at least 80% of board meetings held (there are eight meetings per year) as well as major events like fundraisers and graduations (three per year)
    • Engage in networking opportunities
    • Attend a two day overnight board retreat
