Cook Children’s Health Foundation seeks to improve the health of every child in the region through the prevention and treatment of illness, disease and injury. Funding supported a prospective, randomized control study evaluating the use of IV acetaminophen to understand the impact of opiate versus non-opiate use on congenital heart defect patient’s post-surgery. The primary outcome of this study is to determine whether the use of IV Acetaminophen decreases the total dose of opioids given to patients with congenital heart defect post-surgery.
