Giving Day Success: A Nonprofit’s Appreciation

Giving Day sure beats hosting an event!

"Yesterday, we held our annual fund raiser event in a huge tent on our baseball field and with 500 in attendance and beautiful sunny weather we had a very successful presentation to the crowd.  We had a fantastic speaker.  Trey Hill, our Executive Director asked the people to respond and they did in large numbers.

We sent out invitations, got table hosts, made phone calls, and printed the material for the luncheon.  So we spent $20,000 on the food, the tent, the tables and chairs, tablecloths, silverware and although we haven't finished counting, we might just raise $200,000 (minus the $20,000 expenses).  Our staff spent a great deal of Wednesday setting up the tables and chairs, setting the silverware, decorating, etc.  It looked great.

But the purpose of this letter is to tell you that North Texas Giving Day (formerly Donor Bridge) raised $163,000 for us and, while we worked at communicating with possible donors, it was nothing like we had to accomplish yesterday.  North Texas Giving Day is my very favorite way to raise money--believe me, it is!"
