Giving to Charity Through Your Will

Giving to Charity Through Your Will

Everyone can leave a legacy. What will yours be?

At Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), our legacy of helping giving thrive began in 1953. In the past 65 years, hundreds of forward-thinking individuals, couples and families have partnered with CFT to make a commitment to further their passions and better our community beyond their lifetimes. These generous donors are recognized as part of CFT’s legacy society, the Live Oak Society.

When you give to charity through your will, you enjoy financial and tax benefits while also helping ensure that the work of your favorite nonprofit will endure for generations to come.Planned gifts allow you to support your favorite nonprofits during your lifetime and beyond. Planning your philanthropic giving enables donors to make larger gifts than they could from ordinary income. Some planned gifts even provide lifelong income to your family. Other gift plans use estate and tax planning to provide for charity and heirs in ways that maximize the gift and/or minimize its impact on the donor’s estate. CFT advisors can help you determine which planned giving option is right for you and your family.

What is the Live Oak Society?

The Live Oak Society recognizes individuals and couples who have named Communities Foundation of Texas as the beneficiary of any type of planned or deferred gift. Planned gifts to any fund at CFT qualify for Live Oak Society membership and demonstrate the highest level of trust in Communities Foundation of Texas.

The purpose of the Live Oak Society is to recognize and thank those who have made these generous, forward-thinking gifts and to encourage and inspire others to give back similarly.

Members often arrange for a planned gift through an estate gift in their wills or trusts, or they will name CFT as the beneficiary of 401k or IRA funds or life insurance policies. Planned gifts allow you to support your favorite nonprofits during your lifetime and beyond.
