The Beat Dystonia Fund was initiated in 2009 by Rogers Hartmann to raise monies for support, research and awareness of Dystonia. Rogers, and her brother Greg Hartmann, both live with this movement disorder and are now working towards finding a cure. Dystonia is a chronic disorder that causes sustained muscle contractions and involuntary spasms, however it does not impact cognitive thoughts, intelligence, or shorten one’s life span. Rogers is a film and television producer living in New York and is also getting her Masters at Sarah Lawrence in writing nonfiction.
